About

Justification

Throughout its existence, UNIFESP stands out by its scientific output and the education of health professionals.   Its set of courses is evaluated as one of the better ones in the area of health of the country.  The graduate courses of UNIFESP/EPM were formally recognized by CAPES since 1970.

The beginning of the postgraduate-level course, associated with the implementation of BIREME in the same campus, induced the rapid development of research in the Institution, doing that then it was planned, nationally and internationally, as a center of excellence for the education of masters and doctors.   By its academic excellence and in order to serve the social transformations, UNIFESP, since 2005, expanded its action including other areas of the human knowledge, changing its thematic approach in health, and becoming multidisciplinary.   Thus, since 2007, there are 5 Campuses that offer:

1 São Paulo (SP): courses in Biomedicine, Nursing, Speech Pathology, Medicine, and Ophthalmic Technology;

2 Baixada Santista (SP): courses in Education Physics, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Psychology, and Occupational Therapy;

3 Diadema (SP): courses of Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, and Biochemical and Chemistry;

4 Guarulhos (SP): courses in Social Sciences, Philosophy, History, and Pedagogy;

5 São José dos Campos (SP): course in Sciences of the Computation.
